Identification & Access To Legal & Other Requirements

Purpose and Application

  •     To establish and document the process for identifying and having access to the environmental legal and other requirements associated with Missouri S&T's activities.
  •     This procedure covers the activities of the university including, instruction and teaching activities, research activities, and administrative and business activities.

Definitions and Scope

  •      Legal Requirements are environmental legislation's established by the federal, state, or local government
  •      Other Requirements are environmental requirements, which Missouri S&T chooses to comply with.

Procedure

  •  Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) will identify and list the applicable legal and other requirements associated with each environmental aspect. A list of applicable legal  requirements can be found on the Legal & Other Requirements Summary.
  •  The EHS Director will ensure the identified legal and other requirements are made accessible to the campus.
  •  EHS will periodically review legislation and proposed environmental regulations to ensure that those requirements that apply to the university are kept updated and  obsolete documents are disposed of.
  •  EHS will stay updated on legislation through the quarterly update of the "Super Reg" CD ROM, UM System Updates for major legislation that impacts the University of  Missouri System, and trade journals, periodic training, and technical associations.
  •  The Monitoring & Measuring Procedure defines the methodology for ensuring that Missouri S&T remains compliant with these requirements.
